[edit] Welcome to the NIDL Wiki!
NIDL exists to promote cooperation and communication among librarians in Illinois who work with government documents. Meetings are held twice a year in the spring and the fall. NIDL has no dues, and although NIDL consists largely of individuals from northeastern Illinois, interested persons from throughout the state are welcome to attend meetings. NIDL was organized in 1990 following the dissolution of the Chicago Academic Library Council.
The NIDL Wiki site is made available by NIDL for use by its members. Please visit NIDL's Web site.
[edit] How to Create an Account with Editing Privileges
1. At the right hand top of the Wiki page, is your first click path, “Log in/create account.”
2. Clicking that, you will get the Log In box, with the message “Don’t have a login? Create an account.” Click on the highlighted “Create an account.”
3. Fill in all the requisite information—username, password, retype password, email, and real name. The email and real names are not required. For Robert Pruter of Lewis University, he invented the tag LewisGovDocs to identify immediately to other people who he is. Aric Ahren of IIT used his name, “aricahrens.” The password, which nobody sees, should be something you can easily remember.
Now that you have created your account, you can go back to the main page, and click “Log in/create account,” and enter your username and password.

Fall Meeting
The fall NIDL meeting was NOVEMBER 13, 2009 at DePaul University. Thanks Walt, for being such a wonderful host. Our group was invited to tour the newly remodeled area and also the stately wooden decor in the Government Documents' area. Our speaker, Paul LaPorte, was very knowledgeable about BLS statistics available on their website, including CPI, unemployments rates, and projections. If you missed this meeting, pencil us in this spring in Wheaton!
Blogs By NIDL Members Get Recognition
Walter Baumann at DePaul University's Rinn Law Library recently reported that one of the DePaul librarians discovered an honorable mention for two of the blogs done by NIDL members. The web site "Online University Lowdown," which compiles useful listings of resources along with other information for its readership, in its "50 Best Blogs for Law Librarians" listed both Kevin McLure's blog "Gov Docs Guy" and Walt Baumann's blog for the DePaul Univ. College of Law (actually for the Rinn Law Library). were included in "50 Best Blogs for Law Librarians". Reported Baummm, "Not a biggie, but nice to know someone is actually reading the postings and finds them worthwhile."

[edit] NIDL Minutes
The Spring 2009 minutes as well as notes and minutes of NIDL meetings going back to the Fall 1997 meeting can be accessed at the NIDL Minutes page.
There was at one time several gaps in the minutes listings, some meetings where no minutes were taken (these have been filled in with notes), some minutes that got lost on the NIDL site, and some meetings where no minutes had been submitted. Fortunately, we have been able to retrieve most of the minutes by rummaging through our files and some detective work, but one remains unavailable:
April 25th, 2003 Minutes, Northern Illinois University
[edit] NIDL Annual Reports
Prior to the adoption of the new Constitution and Bylaws in the spring of 2005 an annual report by the Coordinator was required to be written and posted on the NIDL website. This was not always done, but the following are posted at NIDL Annual Reports.
